An imaginative solution to an environmental disaster: The small, non-recyclable single-serve Keurig coffee pod K-cups are being used as fuel by an innovative Kamloops cement manufacturer. Millions of pods have already been diverted from landfills by this company. The pods are heated to 2000 degrees Celsius, and any by-products/ash becomes part of the cement. Apparently 60 billion of these coffee pods are currently in Canadian landfills.
