recycled island art

"If it can't be reduced, reused, repaired, rebuilt, refurbished, refinished, resold, recycled or composted then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production"

The words from If It Can't Be Reduced by iconic folk musician and political activist Pete Seeger on his CD, Pete Seeger at 89.

Recycling Depot Garden

Depot staff member Celene Wilde has created and planted a garden of draught resistant plants. The plants are contained in old sinks, tubes and an old wheel barrow. We’ve reused these items as planters to provide examples to depot users of how items can be reused, but for a different purpose. A table and two chairs and a park bench sit in front and to one side of the garden. Reused wood letters attached to sticks of steel are stuck in the ground behind the garden – they spell  R E U S E   I T.
