our free store

Arguably the most “interesting” part of the Pender Island Recycling Depot, our free store boasts a little bit of everything. Books and magazines, lighting and plumbing supplies, doors and windows, housewares, and a whole host of other very reuseable nicknacks.

The picture above provides a little taste of what you might find on any given day: wood window frame, jogging stroller, bike roof rack and bike tires, plastic deck chairs, wicker basket, ceramic tiles, plastic water tank and an ironing board. And that was just outside the store. Inside were hundreds of other items. Everything is free... although donations are happily accepted.

There are just three
Free Store rules:

1) Check with a depot staff member before putting anything in the free store.

2) Free store drop-off items must be in working order.

3) Free store items should be made of recyclable materials.

Our Dish Shed

Dinner plates, wine glasses, soup bowls, mugs, water glasses, cutlery, table cloths and cloth napkins are here for islanders to use for a party, wedding or some other island event or celebration.

All we ask is that you reserve what you need in advance, return all items cleaned and make a small donation for their use.
